71-feet (21.64m) long wire antenna.


Here's another interesting idea for a backyard HF antenna.

In this revised video from Allan (VA3BHY), we see how a 71-feet (21.64 meters) long wire antenna can be fitted into a small urban lot.

While some comments suggested a slightly longer wire length to allow for better swr adjustment, Allan's current design works well and provides numerous contacts.

Hello all, this is the 4th version of my DIY 71 feet random wire antenna with my 9:1 and 1:1 Balun and DIY. The wire I used was #22 AWG speaker wire. This time, I elevated the antenna 16 feet off the ground and added a paracord for easy maintenance in the future.
