Cory (N0ECK) does a great job of showing how he used a Pine Tree to complete this project for the 2015-2016 Contest season.
Back then, propagation on the upper HF bands (20m-10m) was often spotty and unreliable. So, a sturdy antenna for the lower HF bands (160m through 40m) was a definite plus for DX hunters.
Despite the passage of time, this antenna design still is useful today.

I finally finished the video for the Fan Vertical I put up before the 2015-2016 contest season started. It did very well for the whole winter on 40, 80, and 160 meters.
